I knew the Arizona Biltmore had a lot of history before we arrived, but I wasn’t expecting to enjoy simply exploring the property as much as I did. Everywhere we wandered, there was another beautiful courtyard, another historic building, or another story waiting to be discovered.
If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you probably know I have a soft spot for places with history. I also happen to love classic Hollywood and pop culture, so when a destination combines beautiful architecture with stories about famous guests and unforgettable moments in history, I’m completely hooked.
The Arizona Biltmore checked every one of those boxes for me.
Opened in 1929, the resort has welcomed many U.S. presidents, Hollywood legends, and travelers from around the world for nearly a century. As we wandered the grounds, I couldn’t help but imagine all of the incredible people who had walked those same paths before us. It’s one of those places that naturally makes you slow down, look around, and appreciate the stories hidden around every corner.
Our Cottage Room
During our stay, we chose one of the cottage rooms instead of staying in one of the main hotel towers, and for us, it was the perfect choice.
Rather than being inside the main building, the cottages are tucked throughout the resort, giving them a quieter, more secluded feel. Waking up each morning, stepping outside onto our semi-private patio with a cup of coffee, and looking out across the beautifully landscaped grounds quickly became one of my favorite parts of the trip.
One thing I do think it’s helpful to know before booking is that the patios are semi-private. Each patio is paired with the neighboring cottage, separated by curtains that can be closed for additional privacy. It wasn’t an issue for us, but I always appreciate knowing little details like that before I travel.
Because the cottages are spread throughout the property, they can also mean a longer walk to restaurants, pools, or the lobby depending on where you’re assigned. Personally, I enjoyed the extra peace and quiet, but it’s definitely something to consider if mobility or convenience is a priority.
One detail I absolutely loved was opening the cabinet to find beautiful china waiting for us for coffee and tea. It was such a small touch, but details like that are exactly what make a luxury stay feel special.

Pools for Every Type of Traveler
Another thing I appreciated about the Arizona Biltmore is that it really does have something for everyone.
If you’re traveling with family, the Paradise Pool complex is a lot of fun. With multiple water slides, a splash area for younger children, and even guest rooms with sliding doors that open right out to the pool area, it’s easy to see why families love staying here.
If your idea of a vacation is a little more peace and quiet, you’ll also find adults-only spaces where you can relax away from the activity. I always appreciate when a resort recognizes that different travelers are looking for different experiences and creates spaces where everyone can enjoy their vacation in their own way.
Stories Hidden Throughout the Resort
One of the things I enjoyed most was learning about the history behind the Arizona Biltmore. As we wandered the grounds, I realized this isn’t just a beautiful resort—it’s a place filled with stories.
One of the most famous is that the Tequila Sunrise was created right here at the resort. Today, you can still order one at the very same bar where it was first mixed, and I have to admit, knowing that little piece of history made ordering one even more fun.
The Arizona Biltmore has also welcomed many U.S. presidents throughout its history, which only adds to the incredible legacy of the property.
Then there’s one of my favorite stories. Legend has it that Irving Berlin was inspired to write White Christmas while staying at the Arizona Biltmore. Whether it’s fact or simply part of the resort’s folklore, it’s one of those stories that makes exploring the property even more enjoyable.
And because I’m such a fan of classic Hollywood, I also loved learning that the Paradise Pool was reportedly Marilyn Monroe’s favorite place to relax whenever she visited the resort. Those are exactly the kinds of little details I love discovering when I travel because they make a destination feel so much more personal.
A Look Inside Citrus Club
Although I didn’t stay with Citrus Club access, I did have the opportunity to tour the private lounge and learn everything that’s included. I have to admit, after seeing it in person, I could definitely understand the appeal.
Designed as an adults-only experience for guests 21 and over, Citrus Club offers private check-in, a dedicated concierge, premium beverages, all-day dining, beautiful indoor and outdoor lounge spaces, cozy fire pits, and convenient access to the secluded Ocatilla Pool.
If you’re celebrating a special occasion, planning an anniversary getaway, or simply enjoy a more elevated resort experience, I think Citrus Club is absolutely worth considering. It really creates the feeling of having an exclusive retreat within the resort.

Luxury isn’t just about beautiful buildings or five-star amenities. It’s about creating moments people remember long after they’ve returned home.
For me, the Arizona Biltmore isn’t defined by one spectacular feature. It’s the combination of thoughtful service, rich history, beautiful architecture, and memorable experiences that make it such a special place.
Whether you’re enjoying a quiet morning on your patio with a cup of coffee, wandering the grounds discovering stories from the past, or simply taking time to appreciate the beautiful surroundings, this is the kind of resort that encourages you to slow down.
And those are usually the places I remember most.
